Caricature from Rocky Galenti’s Wall

$1,800.00

At the corner of State Street and West Mason, where Finney’s Crafthouse is today, was Rocky Galenti’s. RG was thee place to dine, wine, have a good Italian meal, with friends. It was always packed, but there was always a table available for neighbors. Dario roamed from table to table singing opera. He also sold wave paintings along the Santa Barbara art walk on Sundays. His studio from where he lived and painted for a time was also at 28 Anacapa Street, along with us. Entertainment at Rocky Galenti’s included a cartoonist whose caricatures of restaurant guests hung on the walls. I walked by while the demolition to make way for the California Hotel was underway and picked up this caricature on drywall before it made its way to the landfill.
